-
- Dear Parents and Educators:
-
- Whether you downloaded this free software from our award-winning
- internet site at http://www.smiledoc.com/dentist or installed this
- software from a floppy disk, we thank you for your interest. We
- hope children will find the program interesting, informative
- and fun!
-
- Our primary objective for distributing this "Interactive Dental
- Office" is to entertain children while providing them with some
- important dental information. Although we have a slight aversion
- to the term, you might say we are "sugar coating" a fundamental
- dental education with enjoyable multimedia entertainment.
-
- We strongly encourage you to spend time with your child or
- children viewing and interacting with this program. Your
- participation will let children know that proper dental care is
- important. We have kept the vocabulary simple in the educational
- portions of this program. However, children less than 8 years old
- may have difficulty understanding some of the key terms and
- concepts. Portions of this program may be particularly useful
- as a supplement to a unit on personal health or offered as an
- extra credit opportunity for elementary school students.
-
- As we developed and financed this project, we recognized a unique
- opportunity to solicit voluntary contributions for the American
- Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Educational Foundation. This
- non-profit organization assists children throughout the world
- by supporting and promoting education, research and policy
- developments to advance the oral health of infants, children
- and adolescents. If you enjoy this program, we urge you to make
- a tax-deductible donation to the American Academy of Pediatric
- Dentistry Educational Foundation, 211 East Chicago Avenue,
- Suite 700, Chicago, IL 60611-2616, USA.
-
- We are interested in your comments regarding this program.
- We can be contacted at the addresses listed above. If you are
- located in the San Jose or San Francisco area, we cordially invite
- your family to visit our state-of-the-art dental office. We look
- forward to personally meeting you and introducing you to our
- professional, dedicated staff.
-
- Very truly yours,
-

- DISPLAY SPEED -- WINDOWS
- This program was designed to run well and with a modicum of
- speed on a 486-25 or faster computer with 4 Mb or more of
- RAM. It is optimized for a simple VGA display - 640x480
- pixel display with 256 colors. In testing, it was found
- that the program runs faster when the display driver settings
- of machines are 256 colors (8 bit) rather than the fancier
- settings of "thousands of colors" (16 bit) and "millions
- of colors"(24 bit).
- If you are a knowledgeable computer person and want to see
- it run full-screen and at its fastest speed, set your Windows
- display driver at 640x480 and 256 colors.
