  11. internet site at http://www.smiledoc.com/dentist or installed this
  12. software from a floppy disk, we thank you for your interest. We
  13. hope children will find the program interesting, informative

  16. Our primary objective for distributing this "Interactive Dental
  17. Office" is to entertain children while providing them with some
  18. important dental information. Although we have a slight aversion
  19. to the term, you might say we are "sugar coating" a fundamental
  20. dental education with enjoyable multimedia entertainment.

  23. children viewing and interacting with this program. Your
  24. participation will let children know that proper dental care is
  25. important. We have kept the vocabulary simple in the educational
  26. portions of this program. However, children less than 8 years old

  28. concepts. Portions of this program may be particularly useful
  29. as a supplement to a unit on personal health or offered as an 
  30. extra credit opportunity for elementary school students.

  86. DE-INSTALLATION -- WINDOWS 3.1
  87. As mentioned in the installation itself, this program DID
  88. NOT ALTER any of your important system files (autoexec,
  89. config, win.ini, system.ini, etc.).
  90. To remove this program from your computer, simply follow
  91. these steps (assuming you allowed the installation program
  92. to install to the default directory of C:\DENTIST):
  93.  
  94. 1) From WINDOWS, open the FILE MANAGER. Or, if you are using
  95.    Windows 95, get a directory of your C Drive through the
  96.    "My Computer" display. If FILE MANAGER or "My Computer"
  97.    does not display a directory tree of your "C" drive,
  98.    click the rectangular drive icon next to the "C" at the
  99.    top left of the window.
  100. 2) In the left display window, you should see a directory
  101.    named "DENTIST". Click on this word once to highlight
  102.    it. Make sure that this is the only word highlighted.
  103. 3) Press the "Delete" key on your keyboard. A dialog box
  104.    will pop up asking if you really want to delete ART_SHOW.
  105.    Click "OK".  The program is now gone and you can exit
  106.    out of FILE MANAGER.
  107. 4) Now you can delete the "Program Group" and the "Icons"
  108.    from your main windows screen. Simply highlight each
  109.    one with a single click of the mouse and then press
  110.    the "Delete" key on your keyboard.  A dialog box will
  111.    ask you to confirm that you want to delete these.
  112.    Click "OK" to confirm.

  117. As mentioned in the installation itself, this program DID
  118. NOT ALTER any of your important system files.

  120. To remove this program from your computer, simply follow
  121. these steps (assuming you allowed the installation program
  122. to install to the default folder/directory of C:\DENTIST):

  124. 1) Double-Click the "My Computer" icon.
  125.  
  126. 2) Double-Click the folder for your "C" Drive. You Should
  127.    see a folder within it titled "Dentist".
  128.  
  129. 3) Drag the "Dentist" folder to the trash bin.
  130.  
  131. 4) Close the "My Computer" program.
  132.  
  133. 5) Drag any program icons for the dentist program from the
  134.    desktop into the Recycle Bin.
  135.  
  136. 6) The program will be deleted from your hard drive the next
  137.    time you empty the Recycle Bin.

  141. DISPLAY SPEED -- WINDOWS
  142. This program was designed to run well and with a modicum of
  143. speed on a 486-25 or faster computer with 4 Mb or more of
  144. RAM.  It is optimized for a simple VGA display - 640x480
  145. pixel display with 256 colors.  In testing, it was found
  146. that the program runs faster when the display driver settings
  147. of machines are 256 colors (8 bit) rather than the fancier
  148. settings of "thousands of colors" (16 bit) and "millions
  149. of colors"(24 bit).
  150. If you are a knowledgeable computer person and want to see
  151. it run full-screen and at its fastest speed, set your Windows
  152. display driver at 640x480 and 256 colors.

  156. DE-INSTALLATION -- MACINTOSH
  157. Simply drag the icons for the program and this "Read Me"
  158. file to the Trash Can. The program will be removed the 
  159. next time you empty your trash.

  161. As mentioned in the installation, this program did not
  162. install any Extensions or extraneous files on your
  163. machine, only the two described here.
